Realms: The Rattling Nest (Plane-shifting divine workshop)
Faylin, the Mischievous Tinkerer, is the deity of trickery, gadgets, and joyful chaos. He is the divine embodiment of unexpected outcomes—the laughter that follows a trap snapping on the wrong foot, the misfiring invention that somehow saves the day, and the joke that masks brilliant insight.
Faylin most often appears as a wiry Hadozee with goggles too large for his head, an arsenal of whirring trinkets strapped to his belts, and a grin that never fades. Smoke, sparks, and laughter tend to herald his presence—even when uninvited. He speaks in rapid bursts, hopping from thought to tangent and back again with the energy of a thousand curious minds.
While many trickster gods are malicious or cruel, Faylin’s chaos is rarely destructive for its own sake. He values cleverness, surprise, and ingenuity, and his pranks often carry hidden lessons or unlikely blessings. His philosophy is simple: “The world takes itself too seriously. I’m here to fix that.”
Faylin’s divine workshop—The Rattling Nest—is a spiraling tower of moving platforms, runaway inventions, and unsolvable puzzles. It floats across the multiverse seemingly at random, occasionally crashing into other planes with unpredictable results. Some believe the Nest is sentient; others think Faylin just lost control long ago and decided to enjoy the ride.
Among mortals, Faylin is worshiped by tinkerers, illusionists, practical jokers, gamblers, and those who thrive in unpredictability. Hadozee in particular revere him as a cultural ancestor, crediting his divine “nudges” for many of their greatest leaps forward—literal and metaphorical.
Faylin rarely involves himself in divine politics, though he has been known to play tricks on other gods, particularly the more self-serious ones. His devices have occasionally appeared in the realms of deities like Veridius and Kethrim, causing brief but legendary disruptions.
Miracles tied to Faylin are often mistaken for accidents: a misfired spell that lands perfectly, a device that works only when broken, or a prank that accidentally saves lives. His chosen champions tend to be unorthodox problem-solvers—those who thrive not despite chaos, but because of it.
Monkey Paw Anvil
Wondrous Item (Legendary)
A clearly magical anvil that radiates blue light when charged. The Anvil is charged by feeding it a pure tormented soul, often depicted as a blue flame.
Monkey Paw Inventions: Artificers will find they can craft nearly any magical item, but based on the rarity constructed, there are increasingly dangerous unforseen consquences to each item.
During campaign 1, the party found and utilized the Monkey Paw Anvil, unknowing of its lore and what the blue fire was, but aware of the twisted outcomes it held on items created. They were able to make a single item; Quickling Boots. Boots that increased walking speed by 10 and allowed for a charge of Haste to be used once until dawn as a bonus action. However, rolling a d8 to determine if the activation caused an unintended effect, such as tripping, disorientation, wind's favor, and more.
