Aelinthra, revered as the Weaver of Eternal Threads, is the Overdeity who governs Fate. Within the Loom of Eternity—her timeless divine realm—she tirelessly spins, weaves, and adjusts the threads that represent the destinies of all beings, mortal and divine. These shimmering cords stretch across the planes, subtly nudged by her steady hand, ensuring the tapestry of existence unfolds in accordance with cosmic balance.
Impartial and enigmatic, Aelinthra embodies true neutrality. She does not favor good or evil, law or chaos, but instead safeguards the grand pattern that underpins all reality. To her, every thread—whether saint or tyrant, victor or martyr—has a place and purpose.
Aelinthra rarely intervenes directly in mortal affairs, instead allowing fate to unfurl organically. However, during times when destiny is challenged or distorted, she acts with quiet certainty. She once opposed Seraphina, a mortal-turned-goddess who sought to reshape destiny to her own vision. Their conflict escalated into a holy war, culminating in Seraphina’s fall and the revocation of her dominion over fate. Aelinthra’s victory preserved the sanctity of destiny as an impartial force.
Though she rarely allies with other deities, Aelinthra is known to work in silent accord with Sila, the Veiled Keeper of Fates. While Aelinthra weaves the design, Sila ensures that what is woven comes to pass. Together, they represent balance in thought and execution—destiny imagined and destiny enforced.
Her followers are often seers, oracles, and chroniclers who interpret the weave through dreams, visions, or symbols. They refrain from manipulating outcomes, instead seeking understanding of what is meant to be. Her most devout often bear tattoos of thread patterns or carry miniature looms as sacred tokens.
Miracles attributed to Aelinthra are rare but unmistakable—missed arrows curving to strike true, fated lovers meeting across time, or prophets speaking in tongues they never learned.
Aelinthra has had few but all notable champions. Seraphel, the Guided Blade, was once a wayward soul who was reborn through the goddess’s grace, Seraphel wields a sword imbued with a thread from Aelinthra's tapestry. He is an unyielding guardian of the cosmic balance, fighting those who seek to disrupt or control it.
The story of Seraphel, the Guided Blade, and Cernunnos, a bugbear of unique destiny.
Seraphel, chosen champion of Aelinthra, had traversed the realms under the goddess’s silent command, his path illuminated by the ethereal thread of destiny. His blade, imbued with a strand of Aelinthra’s own tapestry, resonated with the pulse of fate. It was this divine resonance that led him to the rugged wilderness an unnamed land where Cernunnos hid away from the corrupted divine eyes of the land.
Cernunnos was no ordinary bugbear. His life, marked by peculiar events and omens, had always hinted at a greater purpose. Running from a world destroyed, he was forever pursued by entities looking to kill him. It was on the run where he stumbled upon a cryptic prophecy, a prophecy that spoke of a lost spell vital to the stability of the timeline.
Under the shadowed boughs of the no name land, Seraphel and Cernunnos crossed paths. The bugbear, initially wary of the armored figure, soon sensed a strange kinship – a connection woven by the threads of fate. Seraphel, recognizing the mark of Aelinthra’s guidance upon Cernunnos, shared his divine mission – to aid the bugbear in recovering the lost spell.
Together, they embarked on a perilous journey, guided by the subtle omens of Aelinthra. They traversed forgotten ruins, deciphered age-old riddles, and faced trials that tested both their skills and their resolve. As they delved deeper into the mystery, the bond between the celestial champion and the outcast bugbear grew, each finding an unexpected kinship in the other.
Their quest, however, was fraught with peril. As they neared the location of the lost spell, a malevolent force, aware of the threat to its sinister designs, intervened. In a fateful confrontation, Seraphel and Cernunnos were separated, each swept away by the tumultuous currents of magic and destiny.
Seraphel’s fate became shrouded in mystery, his thread abruptly vanishing, leaving behind whispers and speculation. Cernunnos, though bereft of his celestial ally, continued the quest, driven by the conviction that the fate of the world hinged upon his success.
Unfortunately, the results of his journey were discovered by the Beta's during their raid on the Lich god's sanctum. Cernunnos had been captured and tortured. It is believed he succeeded in his journey but that this information was stolen from him and is what led the Zoren, the lich god, to create the Soul Weave. A magical construction that requires a pilot to weave soul threads back into the tapestry of fate.
Wondrous Item (Legendary)
This beautifully crafted loom is made of ethereal silver and seems to glow with an inner light. Threads of various colors, representing lives and destinies, appear spontaneously and are woven by invisible hands. This magic item is meant to act strictly as a way of learning about fate, and is not intended to interact with it, however, you can choose to interact with fate, but there may be consequence.
Weave Fate: Once per long rest, you may weave a textile in which you can determine the fate of a creature. However, it is considered a taboo use to act on it and cause change. It is meant to inform, not to be changed as the will of Aelinthra is absolute.
Cut Thread: Once, and only once, the user can sever a thread, causing a targeted creature to die, under the same circumstances as "Power Word Kill". The loom loses all power if used in this way.
Fate’s Blessing: Once, and only once, the user can tie a cut thread back together, sparing a creature from dying, regardless of the method of death, as long as the thread of fate was not destroyed. The loom loses all power if misused in this way.
Wondrous Item (Legendary, Necklace)
This necklace features a single, glowing thread from Aelinthra's tapestry, carefully encased in an ornate crystal pendant suspended from a fine silver chain. It pulses gently in sync with the heartbeat of the wearer. The crystal occasionally refracts light into intricate patterns that seem to spell out fleeting, cryptic messages.
Guidance of the Weaver: Once per day, the wearer can ask the necklace a yes-or-no question regarding their future or an upcoming choice. The crystal will shine either a bright, warm light for "yes" or emit a dim, cold light for "no."
Fate's Tether: As a reaction, when the wearer takes damage that would bring them to 0 hit points, the thread pulses vividly and the wearer is instead brought to 1 hit point. This can only occur once per week.
Twist of Destiny: Once per long rest, the wearer can choose to reroll a failed saving throw or ability check but must abide by the new result.
Temporal Knot: Once per month, the wearer can activate the necklace to "pause" a moment, effectively giving them an extra action or bonus action in combat. Time doesn't stop but appears to move extremely slowly for everyone except the wearer during this moment.
Aelinthra's Whisper: When the wearer finds themselves at a crossroads in their life—a major decision point or a momentous event—they will hear a faint whisper emanating from the necklace, offering a cryptic but crucial piece of advice. This is a rare ability that can only be triggered by DM discretion.
